This project is a research project on urban development in Bangkok, Thailand. The aim is to investigate urbanisation processes in their structural and socio-spatial dimensions. Besides the importance of approaches of urban planning and management, which are often top-down driven we explicitly investigate the city making from below by everyday actions and from in-between, i.e. from private and public civil society actors. Previous studies usually focus on either top-down processes or city making from below, but rarely their interactions and intermediaries are examined. This project is an initiation project that aims to establish a research network and research cooperation on transient urban spaces in Bangkok and beyond.
