I am interested in human-environment interactions and how digital technologies shape and alter these relationships. My research explores questions of environmental justice in two different fields: Inclusive disaster protection on the one hand and artificial intelligence in nature conservation on the other hand. I work with qualitative and quantitative methods (interviews, surveys, mapping and ethnographic fieldwork) and aim to contribute to a more inclusive science communication.
I hold a postdoctoral position at the Geography department at Heidelberg University. I completed my PhD at Heidelberg University on knowledge flows and power asymmetries in Pakistan’s organic agricultural sector. As a Postdoc, I examined sociopolitical conflicts evoked by the return of wolves to Germany’s provinces Brandenburg and Lower Saxony. This is where my interest in AI in conservation and digital technologies as mediators between society and nature started.
My regional focus includes Germany and Pakistan.
Apart from my academic career, I have worked in inclusive housing in Germany as well as in development in Pakistan and Laos.
